Dinner At Pasticceria Bruno Staten Island N.Y.

http://pasticceriabruno.com/
Have you ever passed by a restaurant over 100 times in your area and tell yourself one day I'm going to have to try that place?

One day when I can afford it, one day when I'm not so pressed for time, one day when Madonna retires! Yes, I had made the same type of excuses when it came to Pasticceria Bruno of Greenwich Village, which is only four blocks away from my house in Staten Island. So when all the elements were perfect, and there were no more excuses, my wife and I decided to take a walk over to Pasticceria Bruno and have dinner. Pasticceria Bruno has an outside sitting area right in front of the restaurant with beautiful umbrellas for midday lunch and lanterns for evening meals when the weather permits!

Pasticceria Bruno is known for their fabulous desserts and special occasion cakes. Which are the main attraction, when it comes to reviews and bloggers? So I decided before we went to Pasticceria Bruno, that I was going to review the food because I heard it was superb! I must admit when we walked in the restaurant, the aroma of desserts was heavenly, and the glass showcases of cookies, pastries, and cake displays were fantastic! You see, sweets are my weakness, but all I could hear is my mother's voice saying, NO SWEETS TILL AFTER SUPPER! I guess after 45 years it finally stuck with me?

The atmosphere was a little more dressy than I expected? The host and waiters were dressed appropriately, but as I looked around the room I  notice there were a few other men dressed just as casual as I was, and that put me more at ease. The chairs are comfortable, and tables are a nice size ( That means a lot to a BIG man like me! )
The waiter was quick to bring us water and take our order, and also was very attentive the rest of our dinner!

We started out with a Caesar salad, which was a nice size for sharing. The romaine lettuce was crisp, the focaccia crouton was crunchy, and the parmigiana cheese had a nice salty flavor to it. But what I liked the most about the salad is that they didn't overwhelm it with Caesar dressing, there is nothing I hate more than getting a mouth full of dressing and soggy lettuce!

Next, we had a bowl of lentil soup, and it was very hearty with a nice amount of veggies like carrots, potatoes, and greens with a little parmesan cheese on top. The soup was very good, and when the winter weather is here, I'm going to order two bowls for myself. For the appetizer we had a delicious shrimp risotto, the shrimps were a nice size, and the risotto had good a consistency and flavor. The portion was a tad small but still satisfying, so it's a must try!

For the entree, I had a great bowl of spaghetti and meatballs, the bowl it was served in was so pretty it could have been on the front cover of any cooking magazine! But of course, you can't eat the bowl? So I decided to enjoy the delicious meal that was inside the lovely bowl!

Mouth size tender meatballs over thin spaghetti in a light tomato sauce topped with grated cheese "mamma mia" it was sooo good! The portion was a bit small, so I do not suggest it for two. After this delicious dinner, I made the mistake that no foodie should ever make, I left no room for dessert! But I'm not worried because when I return, I'll just ignore my mom's voice and have dessert first! When I do, I will add the dessert pics to this blog. So make sure to check back soon! If you're in the Staten Island area, you should make no excuses, and have a great meal at Pasticceria Bruno of Greenwich Village! Make sure you check their full menus for breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert! It's definitely worth it!

Harry's Oyster Bar and Seafood Restaurant Atlantic City!

In the mid, 70's my cousins, and I would hang out at our uncle's Hawaiian photoshop
on the Atlantic City, Boardwalk

Which was right in front of Tiki Terrace that had a live Hawaiian
luau show with tropical drinks and a full menu!

Right behind the Tiki Terrace was the Dennis hotel's pool area, where my cousins, and I would sneak a swim at least three times a week for the whole summer! So one day I decided to take a drive to Atlantic City, from Staten Island, to walk the Atlantic City, Boardwalk, better known to me as memory lane. Of course, the Dennis hotel has been shut down, the Tiki Terrace has been torn down, and the pool has been filled in many moons ago. I sat in a lawn chair on top of the area where the pool was, and I still felt a little nervous that a lifeguard would come by and ask me to show him my room key? Or I would have the leave the premises!

But it would not be the first time that someone had asked me to leave the premises,
and in much better places I might add!

Setting there brought back so many great memories of my childhood in Atlantic City,
But as soon as I woke up from day dreaming I notice an array of colorful umbrellas, an outside bar and people eating amazing SEAFOOD! Is this all a mirage?
NOPE...

In the heart of Atlantic City, Bally's Casino and the historic Dennis Hotel is a family owned restaurant. The Dougherty family open their first restaurant in Atlantic City, in 1897 called Dock's, then the legendary Knife and Fork, but the latest family addition is Harry's Oyster Bar and Seafood Restaurant.

Harry's Oyster Bar is conveniently located right off the famous Atlantic City, boardwalk and surrounded by the old structure of the legendary Dennis Hotel, which is now Bally's hotel and casino. I notice that Harry's, had two completely different atmospheres? The inside is all about dark wood, beer, and New England clam chowder, that gives the feeling of Maine, in the winter. And the outside is all about colorful patio furniture, tropical drinks, and deep fried seafood, that gives a summer beach resort feel. Which is all separated by a large panoramic window! But to get the full spectrum and review of the food and atmosphere
at Harry's Oyster Bar and Seafood Restaurant,
YOU MUST WATCH THE VIDEO AT THE BOTTOM!

But don't turn off the video after the restaurant review, you see the great thing about the Boardwalk in Atlantic City, is you never know what fun entertainment you'll run into? Like the World Champion Sand Sculpting exhibit! Talented people from around the world come to compete and to show off their amazing sculptures with a free exhibit which is sponsored by the DOAC campaign, right on the famous Atlantic City Beach! MiMi's Italian Restaurant & Piano Bar NYC

http://www.mimispianobar.com/

Anytime people ask me what my nationality is? I ask them to guess? 95% of the time they say Spanish or Puerto Rican,  and about 5% say Italian.

I love to watch their face when they hear I am a (Russian Gypsy!) If only there were a bookie where I could place a bet that they would ask me this next question? I would be a very wealthy man!

WHAT IN THE WORLD IS A RUSSIAN GYPSY? Well, since gypsies do not have their own country hence the word " Travailing Gypsies" this is not an easy question to answer, YOU maybe asking the same question to yourself?

Well, I will give you the same answer I give everyone (GOOGLE IT ) because I'm not a 100% sure myself. But there is one thing I am a 100% sure about the gypsy culture in America, we love our food very Spicy

Cherry Peppers. Black Pepper... Cayenne Pepper... Crushed Pepper... Jalapeno or habaneros are usually the first ingredients in every recipe, and if we can find a Restaurant that can provide dishes with this type of spicy heat, we flock to it.

That's why MiMi's Restaurant & Piano Bar on 52nd and 2nd Ave, is my pick of the week. And even though it's in the heart of New York City, when you walk into MiMi's it gives you that neighborhood feel, where everyone knows each other's names, did someone holler NORM! When I walked in?

MiMi's is on a corner location, so it's surrounded by windows with a great view of the city that never sleeps! Year round Christmas lights, table top candles and a campy piano player who plays old Broadway show tunes and sing along's fill atmosphere and if you tip him he will even take request!

MiMi's is a family own and operated restaurant. For the past 40 years, a member of the household has been a host. They will seat you at a table with a red and white checkered tablecloth, either in the main dining area with a view of their old fashion bar and the piano player or in the outer dining area, with full-length glass windows. The dining areas are separated by a beautiful painted glass mural, which gives a majestic glow when the candles are lit! ( Is it me or does food just taste better on a red and white checkered table cloth? )

If the gypsies only learned one thing from the Hollywood style mafia movies, it would be this,

 ( "T-o.. I-nsure.. P-romptness" )
Tip Everyone!

Because YOU only get what you pay for TIP everyone, and you will get top quality service everywhere you go! So in mafia style, we walk right into the kitchen and tip the cook to ensure special attention to our order.

Now for the nonspicy eaters here are my suggestions. Start off with the garden salad with their blue cheese house dressing, which is thick and rich with chunks of real blue cheese.

For an appetizer try their mushrooms stuffed with prosciutto and covered in a mild marinara sauce, their shell pasta Fettuccine Alfredo with Bacon is perfect for the kiddies as well as the whole table.

But of course, this is the real reason the gypsies go to MiMi's! For their 14 oz NY strip steak and center cut pork chops, both cooked to perfection in red and green Hot cherry peppers. These dishes are so spicy your lips will have a slight burning sensation an hour after your done eating! These dishes are something YOU have to try if you're a hot and spice lover like a gypsy.

Now here was my DILEMMA! After my fantastic night of food, family and sing along's, I got some great pics of the amazing food for my blog, then what happen to me when I got home and tried to upload them on to my PC is every foodie bloggers worst nightmare.

THE SD CARD MALFUNCTIONED, AND 95% OF THE PICS WERE LOST! So of course, panic stuck, and my palms started to sweat, so I took a deep breath and made this 15-second video to my
8,300 Instagram followers!

And this is why I love my foodie family followers because I was flooded with some great pics from their dinner at MiMi's, some fans even found a few pics of myself from a few years back! So to all my Peep's  ONE LOVE BABY!

Despite the malfunction in my life Oop's! I mean on my SD card it really was a great night of delicious food, cozy atmosphere and sing along's! And who know's? After a few cocktails, you just might get the nerve to do a duet with the campy piano singer! You'll never know unless you go, you won't regret it!

The Golden Nugget casino H20 pool + bar Atlantic City. Review by Bobby DoTube

Growing up in Atlantic City New Jersey, aka The Jersey Shore, in the 70's 80's and 90's I have seen Atlantic City, go through every phase. Like the family beach resort from Memorial Day to Labor Day, then a 6-month season resort with just a few casinos like Resorts, Bally's and Caesars which was the most popular ones at the time. Then, of course, the year around gambling city/resort with 15 casinos. At that time Donald Trump, was Mr. Atlantic City, owning three major casinos in Atlantic City, Trump Marina, Trump Plaza and the world-famous Trump Taj Mahal.

Since I left in 1999, there has been another phase in my hometown of A.C. which is chapter 11! But let me say this one thing about Atlantic City, it was America's playground for almost a 100 years before any old lady cashed in a $1.00 at a penny slot machine, so let's not panic DoAC, because I have good news!

The entire city is getting a makeover, it may take some time, but the city is off to a good start. This past Memorial Day weekend, my 21 cousins invited me to sit by the pool at The Golden Nugget, which use to be The Trump Marina. I must admit I visit Atlantic City, often in the summer, but I have not been to what the locals call
( the other Atlantic City ) close to 20 years!

I figure what a great opportunity to make a video review of the new pool at The Golden Nugget, and do my part of promoting the new up and coming to Atlantic City! And as you will see in the video I had the time of my life, Food, Drinks, Family, Hot Tub's, DJ, Cabanas and much more. So here's my blog pics and video review which I know you will enjoy. So don't miss it at the bottom of the blog!

The Golden Nugget casino H20 pool + bar Atlantic City. Review by Bobby DoTube

http://goldennugget.com/atlanticcity/drink_h2opoolbar.asp

The Golden Nugget has giving vacationers a great alternative
to the overcrowded public beaches by opening The H20 + Bar heated pool and Jacuzzi lounge!

Sit back and relax on their comfortable daybeds and
sectionals, while surrounded by glass windows that overlook the Marina and the Atlantic City, skyline.

For the ultimate VIP treatment, rent a party cabana which all come with flat-screen TVs and mini bars. After spending all day in the pool, you could dry off quickly by sitting in the fire pit lounge, while the DJ plays some of the hottest music today.

And the Pool Boy convenient store is a great place to get all your extra's.You could also enjoy fun in the sun in their extra large activity section right below the pool. I had a blast watching everyone have such a great time and so will you!

If you're planning to visit The Golden Nugget Casino Atlantic City,
for your vacation the pool area is open all year round! Come watch my video review of
H20 Pool + Bar and enjoy fun in the sun!H
